Mr. Jones and the milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard

Aka my go-to comfort food restaurant in Makati City

In case you’re not familiar with the reference, check out this video:

Mr. Jones takes the 1960’s contemporary diner experience to uber posh Greenbelt 5. With a menu brimming with American Classics - from pancakes to the highly praised ‘Superman’ burger- I have to say that the diner had me at milkshakes.
Mr. Jones' superman burger is served with two patties, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, hickory barbeque sauce, and a slab of Canadian bacon, served with a pickle and fries dusted with chilli pepper. If that isn't super, anyone who can finish this burger can certainly claim he is. Photo courtesy of juice.ph
Now, you see, I’m not a very milkshake type of girl. I’m usually a fruit shake person who tries to veer away from artificially sweetened beverages because I believe they (1) take the spotlight away from the food I’m eating and (2) they make me too full for dessert (haha! Like that’s ever a problem. THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR DESSERT!)

But when my foodie boss took me to this place and raved about the milkshake, I had to try it. And yes, I'll add that to the growing list of things I am thanking her for. That hand-blended Blueberry Granola Yogurt Slimshake is the best milkshake I’ve ever had in my whole entire life.

Maybe it’s the ice cream, or the crunch of the granola, or the extra glass which is quite possibly more milk, or maybe the hefty cup of whipped cream on top or that it kind of tastes like blueberry pancakes, but it sure tastes like comfort.

And add that to the nostalgic toys (which you may or may not have had in your childhood) - yo-yos, pick-up sticks, marbles and (hoorah) foosball sets- a good book or some time to people watch, maybe even a heart you needs some lovin', and you’ll finally feel like you've gotten some time for that well-deserved break.
